Ruby-throated Hummingbird on the Royal Catchfly in Waukesha County on August 2, 2017

The wildflowers are blooming away these days in the yard and every once in awhile a Ruby-throated Hummingbird puts on a show. They have not been seen often, but I did get a couple of shots yesterday of what I think is a juvenile on the Royal Catchfly. Images were taken on August 2, 2017.

That is so wonderful that you identified a plant for me that I saw today and could not identify! Thanks! Your shots are wonderful as always. Next time I have a great bird in my yard I will shoot you a message. The Tanagers seem to be all departed now, but I had two different males bathing at a regular hour in July.

Wonderful photos Jim!! Our Silene regia is blooming too and we unfortunately haven’t seen a hummingbird use it yet, but it was very well used last season.
