Blooming Native Wildflowers in Wisconsin Spring 2023

I have tried to capture some of the recent beauty of some spring  blooming native wildflowers. Wildflower images have been taken in the yard here in Waukesha or Marquette County. The spring started out with some rains but things have dried up some come May and now the start of June. I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that some wildflowers will have minimal blooms unless moisture shows up soon.

Native Wildflowers at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center in Milwaukee County Wisconsin on July 23, 2018

I stopped at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center in Milwaukee County this morning for some mid-summer birding. Birding was about what is expected for this time of year, sorta slow, but the native wildflowers on the grounds there were stunning. I walked some of the prairie and woodland edge trail and path areas there and there is a lot going on as far as species blooming. Prairie grasses are just about to start blooming. Very few mosquitoes which surprised me. It was a nice morning with temps starting around 65, full sun but a few clouds rolled in soon, a little bit of a breeze. Images were taken on July 23, 2018.

Wildflower Walk and Photo Shoot at the Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha Wisconsin on July 13, 2017

We had a very nice turnout of members show up this morning for the annual wildflower walk and photo shoot at the Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha. This annual event is a field trip for the Retzer Nature Center Camera Club. Lighting was nice early this morning but had some wind for the 2.5 hour event. I think the group walked away with some great shots as it is getting near peak blooming time for many native species at the nature center. It was a fun event for everyone in sharing some of each others photography tips and ideas. Some images to share from the event today on July 13, 2017.
