Birding at Lake Park in Milwaukee Wisconsin on April 4, 2015

I birded Lake Park in Milwaukee this morning for a couple of hours.  Some of the highlights for the morning were a Hermit Thrush, Winter Wren, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Cooper’s Hawk, Brown Creeper and more. The Hermit Thrush was a eating sumac berries and gave nice views near the statue. The Winter Wren was busy hopping around looking for and finding something to eat under leaves on the round in a ravine. Feeders were busy, a place to look for the wanted bird today, the European Goldfinch that was reported yesterday by Tom W. There was no sign of it by anyone today. I stopped at Bradford Beach a couple times and a 2nd winter Great Black-backed Gull was the highlight. This gull like most Great Black-backed Gull I’ve come across are very skittish as once you put your foot on the beach they take off out into the lake. It was a very windy morning at the park and cold temps early. I did some short term birding at the park with Karen G, Judith and Bruce,  it made for a fun morning birding.
