Great Blue Herons at a rookery in SE Wisconsin on June 3, 2026

I stopped at a Great Blue Heron rookery in SE Wisconsin to see if there were any herons present. There were about 16 active nests and there were some large chicks and some small. That tells me some were maybe late hatching or some failed earlier maybe with a storm? I saw very little of herons coming and going at this rookery but the nests had 3 and 4 chicks in each nest so maybe I arrived a little late for most of the feeding. Always fun to watch this event. These nests where a long ways off from me, so they are distant shots more less. It was a day of sunny skies but a little cloudy early. Pleasant temps around 75 degrees and some wind.
