One of my birding stops along the lakefront in Milwaukee this morning gave nice views of a Red Knot feeding along the shoreline. This bird is considered a rare sighting as the normal range for this species is east and west coasts of North America. Another beautiful shorebird coming through the area this time of year. Also present with this bird were 4 Semi-palmated Plovers and one Least Sandpiper. It was a pleasant morning along the lakefront with cloudy skies, mild temps and a brief rain drops once in a while. Images were taken on August 31, 2026.

Great photos, Jim. I have a hard time id’ing shorebirds in breeding plumage much less non-breeding. Seeing your photos is helpful.
