One of my birding stops this morning was McKinley Beach along the Milwaukee lakefront. Looking for shorebirds this time of year and there were 2 present. Two Semipalmated Plovers. They were feeding when I arrived but then almost immediately went to rest. Watching them from a distance their eyes were open with people around and they rested for about 45 minutes before I left. There were people on the beach running around, kids, etc but they barely budged unless someone got very close and then it was just get up and go right back down, both of them. It was a partly cloudy morning with light coming through, no wind and nice at the lakefront at 72 degrees. Images were taken on August 14, 2026.

On the beach getting a few things to eat when I arrived…

Thinking about taking a break…

Just resting….
