Black Terns at the Horicon Marsh in Dodge County Wisconsin on June 2, 2026

There were a nice number of Black Terns on the boardwalk on the Auto Tour. They perch on the boardwalk posts for great looks and then you see their flight action over the water near you looking and getting things to eat. Listed as endangered species here in Wisconsin. I heard their numbers are not increasing but hopefully I’m wrong with that and their future becomes bright.  They are such a beautiful bird! It was a beautiful morning early, with pleasant temperatures and sunny skies too. Images were taken on June 2, 2026.
