Birding at Greenfield Park this morning provided some nice looks at birds in action. Some of the highlights were species Black-crowned Night Heron, Green Heron, Pied-billed Grebe, Great Crested Flycatcher and Wood Ducks. An adult Green Heron set out insects for bait on the water that brought in a few prizes. It was a fun morning doing some photography with Bruce and Lee. It was an overcast day. It started to drizzle when I left early afternoon. Images were taken on August 28, 2015 in West Allis, Milwaukee County Wisconsin.

Great series of photos Jim.
How entertaining viewing the photos . Thanks for sharing . Always a treasure to see your photos.
Outstanding captures, Jim. I was fascinated by the fishing technique of the green heron. I hope the grebe didn’t choke on that crayfish!
I only recently learned that green backed herons set out bait. It’s wonderful to see your excellent photos of it happening. Thank you!
I thought I was running out of adjectives to describe your photos, but enchanting definitely fits these great shots.
Love the grebe pictures – one of my favorite birds. Such a sweet face. Thou I suppose the crab fish doesn’t think so.
One of my favorite spots to take photos! Great captures Jim! Thanks for sharing your talent with us. 😀 I really enjoyed the green heron fishing. I never knew they baited for their meals. How interesting. I also so a little grebe eat a giant crayfish there before & was amazed how it got they get such large things down (whole!) without choking. And your green heron & bullfrog was an amazing series of photos too! Again, can’t believe how it got such a large thing down. And I always enjoy watching the one young wood duck as it flies across the water and dives down to get food. It looks like it’s having so much fun. Did you get any good photos of the 3 young great blue herons? They were a noisy bunch, LOL. 😀
I’m really worried about that white duck or is it a goose out there. I don’t think it belongs in the pond. I think someone let it go it should be on a farm?
